Windows Optimizing

New Way Optimizing Windows Vista

Undoubtedly, many users undecided on moving to a version of Windows Vista, and the fact that Microsoft officially announced the termination of sales of Windows XP, for many, the migration has become a necessity. After the installation phase, in each case, I wonder how these users will be able to customize your computer for increased productivity.

Let's try to analyze what he plans to do to increase the productivity and convenience.

Enhanced administrator

So, the first thing it does often recommend - is to intensify administrative account. It is not clear what it means to optimize the system, but, obviously, can cause considerable damage. Indeed, the default account is embedded system administrator has the meaning SID = 1. Again, by default, each attacker tries to obtain a password for this account. Now imagine that in the event of closure of the account should not only choose a password, but also to determine which of the accounts is the right system administrator.

Speeding menu "Go"
It should be noted that if you use classic menu, we have to adapt. However, if you prefer a graphical manner, it is worth it to consider the following recommendations:

• Click the right mouse button to the "Start" menu;
• Select "Properties";
• Click "Set";
• Try the Shining recently installed programs "and uncheck;
• Save your changes.

Optimization work hard disks

Optimization in such event of a sudden power outage could result in data loss. However, if you use UPS uninterruptible power supply, to run. Otherwise, the company may result in data loss. Although, without a doubt, we will win and productivity. But, in my view, the productivity gains at the expense of credibility - unsuccessful choice, and you can be sure that after the first power outage.

Enabling ReadyBoost for unsupported devices

At first glance, this approach appears successful. After all, not all devices can be tested for compatibility with ReadyBoost. However, it should be understood that there is a risk of losing information. In addition, if you have more than 2 gigabytes of memory, the use of the scheme ReadyBoost will not lead to significant increases in productivity.

Disable automatic shutdown of the hard disks
Many annoying that for energy conservation in Windows Vista disables hard disks during operation. As in that case recommend? Often advised to disable the following services:

• SSDP Discovery
• Volume Shadow Copy
• Windows Search

Disabling UAC

Often, as a measure to optimize advised to turn off hold a user account control Acciunt User Control (UAC). But let's think about whether you want to do? Modern computer user - is the man, a very distant from the information technology and computer is at best a tool, and at worst - just games. Therefore, before disabling this feature is to think thrice. Indeed, there is always, you know exactly what could lead to any action.

Freedom should not be paid at the expense of security.

Often, you can hear a recommendation - turn off. We must do so or not, you can decide. However, I have encountered a situation where the existence of these outlets helped restore in case of trouble.

Definitely not.

A recommendation should be very simple:

• Unplug all sorts of "decorations" system.
• Double check that you are under "Launch" (not just a folder, but it will go on this later).
• Unplug unused service.

Let's try to set up your computer in a manner that does not preclude the basic conditions for the stability and security of the system.

Disable "decorations"

In order to expedite the work of the graphical user interface should right-click on the "My Computer icon and choose" Properties "objects" - "Additional parameters of the system" - "Speed" - "Options" (Figure 1).

Figure 1. Options for service
On the list, should "To ensure optimum performance."
Thus, we have received a certain percentage of productivity growth. Now let's see what lies in the autoloader.

Using the Group Policy for automatic
Open the snap Group Policy (gpedit.msc), select the "PC configuration - Standards Management - System". On the right side snap go to the "Sign-in" (Fig.2).

Important! This program from the list do not appear in the list of programs available to disable the msconfig.exe and they are not all defined administrators autoloader.

Designated job

Programs can be run from the "Scheduler missions." See the list of tasks to be delegated, and to add a new way: "Start - All programs - Standard - Service - Scheduled Tasks - the window opens scheduler job, which shows the definition of its mandate (Fig. 4).

Folder "Booting"

Focus, which is the holding tickets for a program that began after a user login. Labels in this folder can add programs when installed and the user only. There are two folders - common to all individual users and for the current user. By default these folders are here:

See which programs will run in this way can be opened Go to Start - All programs - starting. "If you create a shortcut to this folder for each program will run automatically after the user registration system.

Replaced the path to the file, we can all autorun programs from the specified folder.

Substituting mark for the program from the Startup folder

Assume you have the Acrobat package. Then, in your boot "will be called" Adobe Reader Speed Launch "- the signal is established there by default. But this does not necessarily mean the label specifies the appropriate application - instead of being able to run any other software, the greater functionality Acrobat that is not affected.

See list of programs can be automatically loaded by opening the program "Information on the system" (Go to Start - All programs - Standard - Service - Information on the system ", or dial msinfo32.exe the command line) and will be the "Programme Wednesday - Automatic downloads". "system properties" autostart displays Group by the roster and folders "Boot."

Note, however, that not all of the programs that come down automatically, in this case, would see.

Disable unnecessary services

It is understood that the interruption of some services on the one hand, it can increase the performance of your computer, but on the other hand, might cause the unstable work. Therefore, instead of disconnection of service granted the status of "non-load value."

Another Advanced Windows XP Tweak

Use MSConfig to disable any unnecessary startup items:

Start Menu -> Run -> Type ‘MsConfig’ -> Startup Tab -> Uncheck unnecessary startup items
Windows-MSConfig

Extra startup items are one of the main things that slows down a computer. The startup items are the programs that are loaded into memory when a computer starts up, like AIM, Antivirus programs, all of the little programs sitting in your task bar, and some programs you can’t see. Go through the list and look for any familiar programs and disable those first, then go back and look at the unfamiliar programs and try to find out what application they belong to, google the process name like ctfmon.exe and it should come up with a detailed use for the program in the listings and if it’s harmful or just a system program.

Download TCP/IP Optimizer to enhance the internet connection:

Download TCP/IP Optimizer at SpeedGuide.net -> Open TCPOptimizer -> Click ‘Optimal Settings’ -> Click ‘Apply changes’ -> Check ‘Backup’ -> Click ‘OK’

TCP-IP-Optimizer
TCP/IP Optimizer is a program that changes your Windows XP Network settings to optimize your network and internet performance, it change the amount of bytes it transfers among other things for your network by modifying some registry keys. It gives you a nice boost with your internet connection that Windows XP otherwise limits, and it makes backups that you can restore just in case something goes awry.

Download and Install Cacheman to maximize performance of the caches:

Download ‘Cacheman’, not CachemanXP -> Install Cacheman -> Run Cacheman -> Click ‘Show wizard’ Menu -> Click ‘All’ -> Go through the wizard and leave everything at the default settings, Cacheman will optimize everything -> Go to ‘Options’ -> Uncheck ‘Load Cacheman on Windows startup’

Cacheman
Cache man goes through your cache and optimizes them for maximum performance. It also changes a few other settings that help with memory throughput, performance, and lower the time it takes for Windows to shutdown an application, speeds up the start menu and speeds up Windows XP shutdown.

Disable unused Windows XP services:

Start Menu -> Run -> Type ‘Services.msc’
Windows-XP-Services

It’s important to always save the best for last. This last tweak is going to provide the most performance out of all other tweaks, and it takes the longest to implement. After you’ve opened up the Services windows you’re going to go down the list and look for services that you don’t need, then right click on them, go to ‘Properties’, pull down the ‘Startup type:’ menu and click ‘Disabled, then click ‘OK’. It’s not hard but you have to go through the list of services and figure out what’s needed and what’s not. Actually, someone else has already done that. Head over to Black Viper’s Windows XP Service Configurations. He has a table built that tells you what safe to disable and what you should leave alone, but if you don’t want to take time deciphering his table I’ll just tell you which ones you can go ahead and disable with no problems.

Disable These Services:
Application Management
Clipbook
Computer Browser
Error Reporting Service
HID Input Service (Note: This service will disable the multimedia functions on many multimedia keyboards, so if you have a multimedia keyboard it is recommended that you do not disable this service)

Indexing Service
Net Logon
NetMeeting Remote Desktop Sharing
Network Location Awareness (NLA)
Network Provisioning Service
Portable Media Serial Number Service
QoS RSVP
Remote Desktop Help Session Manager
Remote Registry
Secondary Logon (If you only have one user on your computer)
TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper Service
Telnet
Uninterruptable Power Supply
WebClient
Windows Time
WMI Performance Adapter

These tweaks have been hand-tested, hand-proven, and took the contributions of many people over the years to discover all of these optimizations to Windows XP. I’d like to thank you all for making this OS faster than ever. If any reader has a major tweak that I may have missed somewhere that offers signicant performance boosts please be sure to drop me a comment or send me an email about it, and I’d be glad to add it to the guide if it is worth it.
